This year, Ikazuchi Dojo will try a different kind of New Year’s celebration. Instead of a Toshi Koshi Keiko practice on New Year’s evening, we will be hosting a Kagami Biraki ceremony on Saturday, January 5th at 2pm.

This event is an opportunity for the dojo community to gather, reflect on 2018 and set our intension and focus for 2019. We will have a special practice beginning at 2pm and a potluck after. Matsuoka Sensei will display his collection of shodo (Japanese calligraphy) at the event, including original pieces brushed by Seiseki Abe (the shodo instructor of the founder), and a piece brushed by founder himself.

We hope you’ll be able to join us for this special event. Friends and family are welcome and encouraged to attend, as is anyone in the local aikido community. Please RSVP here.
